The OPÓTICA summit 2026 resumes the afternoon debates with a roundtable discussion central to the future of the profession: “Post-regulation of optometry: what changes in the sector?”, scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
At a time when the long-awaited regulation of optometry marks a new era for visual health professionals in Portugal, this conversation promises to clarify doubts, analyze impacts, and anticipate the challenges that lie ahead for optical businesses and professionals involved.
The panel brings together representatives from leading organizations and associations in the sector: Íris Castro (ERS – Health Regulatory Authority), Diogo Marques (APOR – Portuguese Association of Orthoptists), Henrique Nascimento (UPOOP – Professional Union of Portuguese Opticians and Optometrists), João Caetano (APLO – Association of Licensed Optometry Professionals), and Pedro Pacheco (ANO – National Association of Opticians).
The debate will address the practical effects of regulation on professional practice, collaboration between different areas of visual health, and new opportunities for enhancing the value of optometry in the national context.
Organized by ÓpticaPro magazine, the OPÓTICA summit 2026 will take place at the Hotel Solverde Spa & Wellness Center, in S. Félix da Marinha (Vila Nova de Gaia), on March 21, bringing together experts and professionals in a space for knowledge and sector sharing.
